Features
Intuitive design, powerful underneath.
Compact or expanded view
Shrink Duolapse into a corner with a single preview, or open it wide with the sidebar and both previews, all the way to full screen.
Smart Pause
Step away for a quick coffee and recording pauses after a minute without input, then picks up again the moment you're back.
Always on top
Press the pin button to keep Duolapse above other apps, so it stays in view while you draw.
Global keyboard shortcuts
Pause or resume your latest time-lapse with ⌃⌥⌘R, or start a new one with ⌃⌥⇧⌘R, from any app. Both can be changed in Settings › Shortcuts.
See all keyboard shortcutsLive export preview
The finished video updates as you change options, in its own resizable window, and a fast scrubber lets you check any moment before you export.
Export templates
Save up to three named sets of export options, like one for YouTube and one for Reels, and apply them in one click.
Intro styles
Quickly preview the finished artwork before playing the process. Choose between Sunburn flares and Procreator waves.
Overlays
Add a timestamp, your name or your logo, so your work stays credited wherever it gets shared.
Custom export length
From a 30-second teaser to the full time-lapse, or any length in between.
Capture quality
Pick how often a frame is taken and record the screen at 720p, 1080p or 1440p. Export in HEVC or H.264, in standard color or Display P3.
Archive and pinning
Finished pieces move to their own archive grid, out of the sidebar. Pin up to three time-lapses to keep the ones you're working on at the top.
Drag to Finder
Drop a time-lapse into any Finder folder and it exports right there with your Quick Export options, or opens the export window first if you prefer.
Made for your trackpad
Swipe a time-lapse right to pin it or left to archive or delete it, and swipe with two fingers to show or hide the sidebar.
Dark and light mode
Keep Duolapse dark or light, or let it switch along with the rest of your Mac.
The little things
Menu bar timer
The recording time ticks up in the menu bar, and you can switch sources from there in one click.
Custom file names
Set the rules for how exported files are named, so they line up neatly in your folders.
Date formats
Show dates as relative (2 hours ago), full (27 Oct 2026 at 14:47) or ISO (2026-10-27 14:47).
Stays awake
Your Mac and webcam stay awake while you record. The display can still go to sleep.
Menu bar or Dock
Keep Duolapse in the menu bar, the Dock or both, so it only takes the space you give it.
Re-export
Recordings are kept after you export, so you can export the same time-lapse again in another layout or length.
Pick up where you left off
Set Duolapse to open straight into your last paused time-lapse instead of a new one.
Open at login
Duolapse can open when you log in, so it is ready before you pick up the pen.
Quit on close
Choose whether closing the last window quits Duolapse. It always keeps running while you record.
Monospaced numbers
Show the recording stats in a monospaced font, so the numbers stop wiggling as they count up.
Crash-proof
Frames are saved as you record, so a crash or power loss never costs you the session.
